The Andrology Clinic Laboratory at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans offers a range of specialized tests and services for the evaluation of male infertility in addition to training in standardized semen analysis and quality control management. Our laboratory is certified by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) and is equipped with the latest technology, including a Computer Assisted Semen Analysis (CASA).

Our laboratory provides routine and advanced semen analysis, assessing a man’s fertility potential. This analysis includes:

  • Sperm Composition and Count

  • Sperm Motility (Progressive and Non-Progressive)

  • Sperm Morphology (Strict and Non-Strict Criteria)

  • Sperm DNA Fragmentation (Single Strand and Double Strand)

  • Oxidative Stress Evaluation

How is the specimen collected?

Each patient is given a sterile cup and specific instructions for their specimen collection. Semen specimens are collected onsite in a private room. Alternatively, semen specimens can be collected at home but must be delivered to us within one hour of collection.
